Mission statement of providing accessible science education to underrepresentedcommunities in the Bay Area. My first semester with BEAM, I was paired with a fifth-grade classroom in Berkeley, and commuting with my fellow mentors once a week to teach new science lessons brought me closer to my team and allowed me to be creative in teaching approaches. Patience, kindness, respect formentees, versatility, open-mindedness, and creativity are crucial when it comes to fostering an inclusiveand supportive environment in the classroom for mentees to explore their interests in science.
