ABOUT ASHLEY HORAN
As CEO/Executive Director of the nonprofit, Washoe County Bar Association (WCBA), in Reno, Nevada, I oversee all operational aspects of the 501(c)(3) & 501(c)(6) while implementing streamlined initiatives and developing strategic program trajectories. Running the 120-year-old organization with just under members, 2 separate Boards of Directors, budget oversight, managing editor of a publication, & a foundation charitable arm, efficiency is vital in my role. I implement industrial-organizational tactics to research, assess, and identify problems, thereby providing solutions that improve company performance for our membership & community at large. In 2013, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, minoring in Theology with a 3.95/4.0 GPA, cum laude. My key successes in this role include a 21% decrease in fiscal expenditures; a 16% increase in advertising revenue; program development & management of: Legal Mentorship Program, Attorney Celebration of Life; Business Clothing Drive for rehabilitation facilities; Food Bank Drive; DEI Community Column in legal publication; Internship Programs; & ensuring scholarships annually awarded to community college legal programs. I was awarded the US Flag from our Second Judicial District Court Judges for my work as Executive Director of the WCBA in 2023. I serve on the Board for the National Association of Bar Executives as Local Bar Director. Additionally, I am serving my second term as Chairwoman of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee for the National Association of Bar Executives, which has enriched my skills in team collaboration and strategic responses within a rapidly evolving, yet precarious, climate in law. I also serve on the Board for the WCB Foundation in Northern Nevada. Simon Sinek is a personal favorite speaker on business leadership, stating that \"why\" we do something is an articulation of who we are, rather than the what and how we do our job. My why is advocacy. Whether working for the state of Nevada, advocating for special needs in supportive programming and guardianship court, volunteering for a sex-trafficking awareness nonprofit, serving as a board director of a nonprofit that serves cognitively impaired persons, or developing alternative treatment plans for sobriety groups, my “why” has always remained the same. I am an advocate.
