I am the Director of Exsera BioLabs, a specialized laboratory focused on complement, inflammation, rheumatology, and autoimmunity. ABOUT ASHLEY F.
I love talking complement immunobiology, while working to demystify the field. Complement and autoimmunity are increasingly being recognized for their role in diseases in pretty much every area of medicine; so understanding how they function and how to properly asses their role has never been more important. My passion for complement analysis, in particular, started when I was fortunate enough to have Patsy C. Giclas as my mentor and now continues as I do my best to honor her legacy with my work at the University of Colorado and with the International Complement Society. To continue to foster greater understanding of complement, I am now working with a distinguished committee of fellow complementologists to host the first Collaborative Complement Congress of the Americas (C3A) in March of 2025. At CU, my laboratory, Exsera BioLabs, specializes in complement and autoimmune analysis, in support of non-clinical and clinical trials as well as for patient diagnostics and research. Exsera is GLP and GCP compliant with a QAU and we utilize the Watson LIM system. We are also certified in CAP and CLIA.
