WORK HISTORY
Psfil Research Assistant @Michigan Aerospace
The Photonic Sensing and Flow Interaction Lab are developing new laser sensing techniques and plasma-enabled devices for applications to high speed aerodynamics, combustion, propulsion, remote sensing, and flow control. In my individual project, I am developed the Nano-Newton Thrust Test Stand for characterizing information about pulsed thrust measurements. After building the thrust stand and characterizing its performance with light-pressure calibration, I co-authored a paper about its applications. Then I lead a team of 2 other undergraduates to use this thrust stand for laser ablative propulsion of ISRU candidate materials. In this work I managed the use of a femtosecond laser to ablate the surface of various materials and compare the thrust generated. Noise reduction and signal analysis are crucial aspects of this work, including frequency domain analysis and complex fourier decomposition.Upon completion of this project I began research into modern spectroscopy and investigating the spectra of various plasmas. In this work I utilize and maintain Class 3 & 4 lasers, as well as conduct experiments in a large 1e-6 torr vacuum chamber. I also assist in overseeing lab maintenance and organization for various equipment and procedures.
