ABOUT ASHLEY CANETE
My time at Queen\'s University has emphasized my inherent gravitation towards topics related to mining sustainability, particularly the conservation of biodiversity in mining spaces. I am most interested in assessing the ecotoxicological implications of acid mine drainage systems (AMD) on aquatic wildlife. AMD is one of the main hydrological and geochemical problems derived from anthropogenic influence on the geosphere, affecting global economies and green transitions that rely on intense mining activities. I aspire for my future work to evaluate the ecotoxicological components that undermine or propagate sustainable mining practices.
