ABOUT ASHLEY BURCIAGA
I\'m a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP #4706) and founder of BridgEd Psych Educational Psychology, based in Sacramento, CA. With over 15 years of experience as a school psychologist, I specialize in comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs), and culturally responsive assessment practices with a neuroaffirming lens.At BridgEd Psych, I work with families, schools, and attorneys to support students navigating learning differences, emotional disabilities, autism, ADHD, and complex eligibility concerns. My practice is grounded in collaboration, clarity, and care—empowering families with practical insights and a clear path forward.I bring deep experience from working in urban districts, with a focus on high-level mental health needs, complex assessments, and multi-tiered consultation. I currently facilitate a Consultation Panel that supports school psychologists in evaluating Emotional Disability, Autism, and Intellectual Disability, particularly for students of color at risk of misidentification. This panel was created in response to disproportionate identification patterns and aims to promote equitable, legally defensible evaluations.I also consult on legal compliance, best practices, and eligibility determination for district teams, helping ensure that evaluation decisions are thorough, appropriate, and in line with IDEA and state guidance. As a member of the Nonpublic School (NPS) team, I oversee evaluations and collaborate on placement decisions for students requiring higher-level mental health or educational supports. I conduct in-person assessments for students in residential treatment or psychiatric hospitals, ensuring evaluations are timely, legally compliant, and aligned with educational needs. In addition to private practice, I’ve contributed to the field through mentorship and teaching, serving as a lecturer at San Francisco State University’s School Psychology program. I train future school psychologists in mental health services, assessment, consultation, behavior intervention, and special education law.My systems-level work includes streamlining ERMHS referrals and partnering with the Department of Public Health to ensure efficient and equitable access to school-based mental health services.Serving families across Sacramento | Free consults available
