ABOUT ASHLEY ANDREOU

As a psychiatry resident at Columbia University Medical Center, I\'m passionate about cultivating a whole-body, integrative approach to mental health. My core interests lie in nutritional psychiatry, exploring the profound impact of diet and gut-brain axis on mood and cognitive function; reproductive psychiatry, addressing the unique mental health needs across women\'s reproductive lifespan; and fostering mind-body wellness, proudly leading our residency\'s Wellness Committee. My journey to medicine is rooted in a deep commitment to health equity: I completed a fellowship in HIV policy at the United Nations during my time at Occidental College, earned an MPH from Yale, and pursued my MD at Georgetown University School of Medicine while on the Health Justice Academic Track. As a health equity advocate and freelance writer, my writing has appeared in outlets such as USA Today, Scientific American, and STAT. I continue to integrate my public health lens and clinical expertise, currently engaging in health disparities research that bridges social science and medical practice.
