About Ashlesha Odak
Creative and passionate researcher in the field of cell and gene therapies. A keen problem solverand find enjoyment working in a team environment to come up with new avenues to solve and manage complex problems. Passionate about building novel, clinically translatable therapies to improve human health. During my PhD, I worked on two main projects, identifying novel genomic locations for targeted CAR-T cell therapy using CRISPR/Cas9 and improving lentiviral vector-based gene therapy approaches for hemoglobinopathies like ß-thalassemias and sickle cell disease. Both projects have lead to publications, presentations at major conferences and patent applications. Self-motivated and driven to take an idea from concept to fruition and developed new collaborations and techniques to drive these projects to completion. Skilled in molecular biology, cell culture and gene transfer especially in clinically relevant primary cells. Experience with designing and executing in vitro and in vivo preclinical studies to enable clinical translation. I would like to independently develop such novel cell and gene therapy strategies for genetic and acquired disorders as a team leader and thus contribute towards bringing new therapeutic options for patients. I have a budding interest in entrepreneurship and looking to learn new skills and develop towards becoming an entrepreneur.
