About Ashleigh Kotula
A coworker once referred to me as their “in case of emergency: break glass” person – the one they turn to when things get tough. I excel in maintaining composure during stressful situations and can quickly think on my feet to tackle challenges. Originally from Australia, I am currently based in Texas, working as the Patron Events Manager at the Alley Theatre. The Alley is one of the largest professional nonprofit theaters in the U.S, presenting a repertoire of classic and new works, alongside community engagement programs within the greater Houston area. After spending some of my early career in regional Australia, I saw the transformative power of community investment in creating opportunities. I am an advocate for corporate-social responsibility and building bridges between businesses, philanthropic individuals, and local communities. I have a Master of Business (Arts and Cultural Management) degree from Deakin University, which has supplemented my background in human resource management, and enhanced my skills in arts administration, leadership, project management, communication, and non-profit work. My experience engaging with arts festivals in Australia and Asia through work, volunteering, and performances has also fueled my passion for enhancing arts accessibility and attracting new audiences. My career journey has spanned various roles, industries, and countries. However, one aspect has remained constant: my dedication to fostering connections and creating positive experiences for individuals, whether in a professional setting or at an event.
