ABOUT ASHLEA FAITH HANEY
With eight years of experience as a community advocate and engagement specialist, and twenty years of practice and study as a craftwitch of many trades (poetry, adornment, moon-cycle ceremonies, herbalism), I bring my full self and vast experiences to all that I do. From program management to DEI content creation, curriculum development, mixed-media arts, non-fiction writing, academic advising, museum curation, event planning, and strategic marketing and recruiting, I have a tick for fast-learning and identifying the details within the details within the details (within the details). I hold a B.A. in African American Studies with a concentration in Diversity & Inclusion in the Arts, and my book \"When We Say Bitch, a Black Womxn\'s Dealing\" is an extension of my honors thesis work, which is an interdisciplinary and creative exploration of language, power, intersectionality, and culture. My post-graduate career began at LEDA, a nationwide college-access and leadership development non-profit that changed the trajectory of my life. There, I had the incredible opportunity to make strides in our recruitment strategies, with a particular focus in supporting Black and indigenous students, those who are least represented in higher education. I believe that the work of DEI/equity is the work of returning, remembering, and honoring the nature of who we are at our core. It requires a stamina for wading through the murky nuances of human identity, understanding & honoring the histories that brought us to the present moment, and a grand love and commitment to community. Now, as a Program Manager at Summit Impact, a non-profit that brings together world-changers globally to build a more regenerative and equitable future through the power of community, I am thrilled to continue weaving the communal webs that are creating the infrastructure for a more free world.
