About Ashish Bhattarai
Passionate and driven professional with a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering from Auburn University and a strong background in Mechanical and Process Engineering. I specialize in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), thermochemical conversion processes, and energy systems design, combining advanced simulation tools with experimental methods to develop innovative, sustainable solutions. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across academia, R&D, and industrial settings—solving complex problems in multiphase flow modeling, combustion kinetics, and biomass gasification, with a focus on improving energy efficiency and process reliability. My work bridges the gap between lab-scale research and real-world application, with deep expertise in tools like ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, and Python. In addition to my core research, I’ve also supported projects involving hydraulic and hydrologic calculations for the design of drinking water and wastewater pipelines, and gained introductory experience in wastewater treatment processes. These experiences have broadened my systems-level understanding and sparked an interest in sustainable water infrastructure alongside energy systems. Currently, I serve as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Auburn University, advancing CFD models to optimize fluidized bed systems and leading efforts to enhance energy system performance. I bring a multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving, integrating AI/ML with traditional modeling techniques to drive innovation. Core Strengths 1) Advanced CFD and Computational Modeling 2) Thermochemical Conversion and Gasification 3) Process Optimization and Scale-Up 4) High-Performance Computing for Simulations 5) Energy and Water System Design (Introductory Exposure)
