WORK HISTORY
Computational Fluid Dynamics Product Development Engineer Integrated Powertrain & Thermal Systems @Ford Motor Company
Dearborn, MI, US
Responsible for analyzing the engine airpath, combustion, cooling, fuel, and lubrication systems. Develop and utilize various CFD methods to quantify hardware impacts on engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, NVH, and durability to help drive powertrain design and address warranty issues- Conduct 1D, 1D-3D, and 3D CFD analyses of engine systems for initial design, performance/efficiency improvement, or to solve operational problems:• VOF Cyl. Head and Crankcase oil slosh for aeration and lubrication performance• Fuel tank slosh dynamics for crash survival and NVH• Secondary gas distribution (EGR, PCV, Purge)• Turbocharger/Compressor performance and aero-acoustic analysis for surge prevention and noise reduction• Sensor positioning (UEGO, TMAP, etc.)• Intake/exhaust ports/manifolds and AIS optimization• Secondary Air Intake System design for emissions with reacting flow• Heat transfer coefficient (HTC) map generation for exhaust manifolds• Full engine oil slosh simulation method development (two phase volume of fluid (VOF) sloshing, mitigation of oil ingestion into AIS, aeration prediction)• Electric Catalyst Heater simulation method development using phasic porous media and ohmic heating• Cylinder head metal temperature prediction• Catalyst light-off and efficiency analyses• Visual imaging and animation- Combustion modeling using Converge and in-house 1D codes• 1D-3D co-simulation with 1D engine model and 3D in-cylinder, full combustion model for fuel consumption, piston and cylinder head design, emissions prediction• Surrogate cold flow mixing and emissions performance- Highly Utilized Software Tools: Star-CCM+, Converge, Simerics, CATIA, HEEDS Optimizer, Ensight, JAVA, Matlab, Python- Develop CFD methodology for new analyses- Present results and recommendations to advise management on best design choices
