About Ashia Nagi

Hello! My name is Ashia (eye-sha) Nagi! I’m a Yemeni American software engineer, lifestyle content creator, and passionate advocate for immigrant student success. I immigrated to the U.S. at a young age and graduated in Fall 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Sociology from the City College of New York. My professional interests span software engineering and product management. I’m especially drawn to building intuitive digital experiences and empowering others through education and storytelling.While at CCNY, I co-founded PaxWalk, a safety app that helps college students find walking buddies. Our team won the Standard Chartered Bank grand prize in the school’s largest tech/business competition. I was also selected for the 2-year Code/Interactive Tech Career Accelerator Program (TCAP), which provided mentorship and career development for high-potential students. During my senior year, I served as Social Media Coordinator for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), where I worked to amplify the voices of women in STEM, and I taught an iOS CodePath course where students built seven mini applications. After graduation, I joined the QCC Techworks Bootcamp to deepen my skills in JavaScript, React.js, SQL, and MongoDB.For the past five years, I’ve been working as a software engineer at JPMorgan Chase. I’ve contributed to several applications, most notably Wealth Plan, a digital tool that helps customers plan and manage their long-term financial goals. In my first year, I focused on front-end development using Angular, before transitioning to backend engineering. There, I’ve worked with Java, Spring Boot, cloud technologies, and Cassandra, gaining deeper experience in scalable systems and enterprise architecture.

   I’ve been working on the Wealth Plan Dashboard tab of the Chase application, using a tech stack that includes Java, Spring, Gaia, Cassandra, Kafka, and deployed in AWS. In this role, I lead major feature initiatives from discovery through to production, with some projects spanning up to a year. This involves close collaboration with stakeholders, product managers, and UI teams to ensure successful and timely delivery. My work has consistently earned high performance reviews and recognition from senior management and stakeholders. Beyond development, I’ve contributed to enhancing team processes, introduced best practices to improve efficiency, and provided mentorship and guidance to teammates.
