Asha is a dispute resolution attorney, handling a variety of claims involving insurance, energy, construction, banking and general commercial matters. She is a member of Bernstein Shur’s Energy Practice Group, Environmental Practice Group and Construction Law Practice Group.Asha’s energy clients include owners of power plants in disputes with suppliers, manufacturers and insurers. As a licensed professional engineer and LEED Accredited Professional, Asha is heavily involved in construction matters representing contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and owners in complex construction litigation, contract drafting and negotiation, lien and bond claims, defect claims and contract disputes. Prior to law school, Asha designed and coordinated various multi-million dollar construction and demolition projects, as well as state and federal transportation and highway safety projects as a civil engineer with Parsons Brinckerhoff.In her insurance practice, Asha counsels clients through insurance reviews as part of their risk management analysis, and assists clients in the purchase of appropriate policies and endorsements, including data security policies. Asha represents clients, including her construction and energy clients, as insurance coverage counsel in matters involving CGL, property, data security, and directors’ and officers’ policies. Asha also negotiates and litigates insurance coverage disputes on behalf of her clients as the insured or an additional insured under the policy, including claims under Maine’s Unfair Settlement Practices Act. Asha has been involved in assisting clients in seeking significant recoveries under property insurance policies insuring hydroelectric turbines and fishing vessels valued at over half a million dollars.Asha is an active lecturer on both construction and insurance matters in Maine.
