WORK HISTORY
Journal Specialist @Frontiers
London, GB
As a Journal Specialist at Frontiers, I play a central role in driving the editorial and strategic development of two open-access journals within the sustainability portfolio, Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems and Frontiers in Forests and Global Change. These journals are organised into sections, each functioning like a mini journal with a dedicated Editorial Board and thematic focus. My responsibilities follow the full editorial cycle, with a primary emphasis on managing Research Topics — special collections of peer-reviewed articles around emerging themes. I oversee these projects from initial proposal to publication. This includes identifying relevant and timely academic themes, commissioning researchers to act as Topic Editors, and ensuring each topic aligns with the journal\'s scope and objectives. I also support the development of our Editorial Boards by identifying and promoting Review Editors to Associate Editors. This involves reviewing performance, academic background, and fit with the journal\'s scope. Additionally, I lead onboarding calls and guide new editors through the Research Topic process, ensuring that they uphold editorial standards, workflows, and platform use.
