ABOUT ASFA ELKHALIFA
With a deep passion for promoting human rights and fostering global peace, I am a dedicated individual on a journey to become an international human rights lawyer. Currently in my final year of an honours degree program in Political Science at UOttawa, I have gained a deep understanding of politics, international law, and development. My academic journey has acquired me with extensive skills and knowledge to tackle complex global issues. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have gained valuable experience in the NGO sector internationally, nationally, and locally. Through my involvement with the United Nations, I have had the privilege of engaging in international diplomacy and policy-making processes, contributing to discussions on pressing global issues. Nationally, my collaboration with World Vision has allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative impact of humanitarian work and advocacy efforts on vulnerable communities. Locally, my engagement with Quintilian Way has provided me with valuable insights into community-based initiatives and grassroots activism aimed at addressing social and learning differences. As a native of Sudan, recent tragedies have become the underlying cause in my life, fuelling my immense desire to one day liberate my homeland from injustice and oppression. Motivated by a deep sense of duty to advocate for the rights of marginalized communities, I am driven by the belief that every individual deserves to live in dignity and freedom. My upbringing in Sudan has profoundly influenced my worldview and instilled in me a profound commitment to effecting positive change in my homeland and beyond. As I pursue my aspirations to become an international human rights lawyer, I am committed to continue to enhance my experience and my involvement in international development. Moreover, I am dedicated to make a meaningful impact in the field of international law and human rights advocacy, striving to create a more just and equitable world for all.
