I am an Associate Scientist at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, I contribute to AI research, focusing on developing deep learning models for different ophthalmic diseases using different eye imaging modalities. Over the past years at NIH, I have led impactful projects like Deep-RPD-Net, Deep-GA-Net, and DeepOpacityNet, which harness advanced computer vision techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy. My work embodies a mission to enhance medical imaging solutions through trustworthy and explainable AI frameworks. With a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering and over nine years of experience in AI and computer vision, I bring expertise in medical image analysis, data curation, and model development. My contributions have enabled progress in OCT imaging, corneal layer segmentation, and disease classification. Beyond research, I actively mentor interns, organize journal clubs, and support collaborative innovation, driven by a passion for advancing biomedical AI to improve global healthcare outcomes.
