About Asantewa Bonna

I am curious about the experiences and stories of people, and the systems that shape how they are able to navigate life. I continue to work toward understanding how people move through the world and aim to create opportunities for individuals to leverage their agency and visibility. At my core is a belief that people deserve the space to tell their own stories, and that meaningful change begins when we take the time to listen.I explore these values in multiple ways. As a co-founder of Barry & Bonna Publishing LLC, I help create platforms for underrepresented voices in literature, working at the intersection of storytelling, community, and access. I also work in scientific research, where I study biological systems to better understand the mechanisms that sustain life. In both of these endeavors, I am motivated by inquiry, care, and a desire to humanize complex systems.I believe the future of the world lies in intentional and ethical communication grounded in genuine listening. When it comes to creating healthier and more just communities, it begins with learning from the people around us, honoring lived experience, and building systems that reflect those insights.

Lead editorial review processes, work directly with authors, and support manuscript development from submission through publication.Oversee operational and organizational functions, including strategic planning, coordination with collaborators, and long-term vision for the press. Contribute to building platforms that expand access to publishing and support emerging writers.
