ABOUT ASAD GHAFFAR
I am currently a student in the University of Toronto within the Engineering Science + PEY Co-op program, in the Machine Intelligence Major. I have 16 months (and growing) of work experience in Software Engineering. Currently, I am interning at Intel (Altera) in Toronto, Canada where I help develop the Quartus Prime software in the Synthesis team. This is following a 12 month internship at Intel in San Jose, California. Throughout these internships, I have debugged and redesigned several elements of the Synthesis reporting and messaging systems, assisted in the transition of our core database, and utilized machine learning with TensorFlow to give meaningful design predictions for customers.I also have experience as a software engineering intern at a geotechnical software company called Rocscience. Here I spearheaded the creation of an online multiplayer application on the Microsoft HoloLens 2 in C# and Unity, which demonstrated the companies software using augmented reality. Within this application, I assisted in the development of a comprehensive user interface in collaboration with the UI/UX teams.I have several meaningful projects which demonstrate my experience and creativity in coding languages such as Python, Java, C, C# and C++. This includes a multi-modal machine learning network in PyTorch which determines the original source material of 10-20 second short clips from podcasts at a 95% accuracy (for the top 50 podcasts of 2023), a frontend application using Java, HTML and SQLite3 which displays live global earthquake data and a neural machine translator that translates French texts to English.Proficient: Python (scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, pandas), TensorFlow, PyTorch, C++, C, C#, Java, MATLAB, Git, Unity, NLP (Natural Language Processing), Computer VisionKnowledgeable: Tcl, Perl, HTML, SQLite3, Awards: Kathryn Jean Poole In-Course scholarship (Fall 2024), Dean\'s Honor List at University of Toronto (Fall 2020, Winter 2021, Fall 2021, Winter 2022, Fall 2022, Winter 2023), Best in the world for IGCSE Additional Mathematics (2018)GPA: 3.96/4.00
