About Asa McKee

As a passionate outdoorsman, former professional skier, and dedicated entrepreneur, I’ve built a career spanning over 20 years in the outdoor recreation and sports industries. My journey started with guiding skiing, fly-fishing, and coaching lacrosse across North America. During this time, I shaped training programs, environmental initiatives, and public awareness efforts at various ski resorts. In 2016, I co-founded Khala & Co, a company committed to sustainability through reusable food wraps. Under my leadership, we introduced the first plant-based wax wrap to the North American market, earning multiple accolades, including the Best Vegan Wrap of 2021 & 2022 by Tree Hugger Magazine. Khala’s innovative approach has been featured in major outlets such as The Today Show, Surfer Magazine, and Outside, with the brand significantly reducing plastic waste and helping households save millions of pounds of food. My entrepreneurial spirit thrived during this journey, particularly as I navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually leading to my successful exit from Khala in 2022. Today, I serve as a Fractional Chief Marketing Officer for multiple food and outdoor industry brands. My expertise lies in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies focusing on brand positioning, digital marketing, and customer acquisition. I’m passionate about helping brands elevate their impact, drive growth, and foster strong community connections through innovative marketing and operational strategies. As an advocate for environmental sustainability, I have also chaired the Front Range steering committee for 1% for the Planet, helping to bridge the gap between businesses and non-profits in the outdoor space. My career reflects a deep commitment to creating meaningful, lasting impact for both businesses and the planet.
