About Aryana Sutton

Throughout my 3+ years at Groundswell, I\'ve had the opportunity to combine my passions for sustainability, equity, environmental justice, community ownership, and local engagement to help others. Each role I held within this organization allowed me to exercise my commitment to bridging gaps between communities - especially through connecting organizations to build stronger networks and compound collective impact, expand access to resources, and engage closely with community members to inspire civic engagement, particularly in building out programs so that they are best designed for local priorities and needs.I graduated from the University of Dayton in May of 2022 with honors, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, where I concentrated in Global Health and Environment. I also obtained minors in Sustainability and Spanish while taking graduate classes to become certified in Nonprofit and Community Leadership. Outside of the classroom, I relished my various involvement opportunities including membership in my university’s Sustainability Activation Program. Additionally, I co-founded Gamma Phi Omega International Sorority, Inc. at UD, which is a Latinx-oriented organization that helps create a sense of belonging and representation for Latinx and other minority students on campus. As a founder and community service chair, I enjoyed getting out into the community, planning events, building connections amongst students, and creating opportunities for students to serve the Dayton community and promote cultural awareness on campus.With a background studying and working in diverse communities, I am driven to use my passion for social justice to uplift communities that have historically been left behind and help mitigate barriers to access and a better quality of life. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf and volleyball, running, making pottery, being outdoors, and spending time with friends, family, and my two cats.
