About Arvind Kumar

Hi, I’m Arvind. I look at sustainability through a behavioural lens.Policies are written for populations, but they are enacted by people in unique contexts. My work sits at that intersection. I help organisations understand why people behave the way they do, and design interventions which work on ground.I am a Programme Associate at CEEW, focusing on crafting behavioural solutions for air pollution-whether it’s managing construction dust or encouraging better waste management in communities. I actively champion behaviourally informed communication strategies as a member of the CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management) Shudh Vayu Sampark (SuVaS) Group on IEC. My role is to ensure that policy mandates translate into real-world action through effective public communications.I am also a passionate visual storyteller. I believe that complex research shouldn\'t stay hidden in PDFs; it needs to be communicated through stories that resonate.During the COVID-19 pandemic, I founded Cycle Soldiers in Kolkata, which quickly expanded to other metro cities in India. Cycle Soldiers is a voluntary initiative that used informed design and community networks to deliver essentials to vulnerable populations via bicycle.

   Talking and walking in the shoes of farmers, vulnerable rural communities- women, elderly and children, students, construction workers, our housekeeping staff and many such audiences, has been at the heart of my research at CEEW. Curiosity, a desire to influence the status quo, an incredibly supportive team and deep empathy have grounded and guided me over the past two years as a Research Analyst with the Clean Air team, and today, I’m excited to share that I’ve been promoted to Programme Associate, Clean Air at CEEW!
