A global executive with experience spanning multiple sectors from high technology to government and many geographies from Silicon Valley to India. Business leader and financial expert with several years of experience in senior executive roles and as a board and audit committee member. Senior commercial diplomat with expertise in advocating for policies and opportunities internationally. Arun is a Managing Partner at Celesta Capital, a leading deep tech Silicon Valley venture capital firm. He has a major focus on Celesta\'s investments and activities in India and the U.S-India corridor.Arun serves as an independent director on the Board of Dr Reddy\'s Laboratories,(NYSE: RDY) a global pharmaceuticals and life sciences company. He is also a strategic advisor to the U.S-India Business Council Board.He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a member of the Advisory Council to the Quad Investor Network. He serves on the board of Indiaspora.In February 2022, Arun completed a five-year term as Chairman & CEO of KPMG in India. He was a member of KPMG’s Global Board as well as KPMG’s Europe Middle East & Africa Board. Arun led an organization of thousands of talented professionals constituting the second-largest firm in terms of employee strength within KPMG globally. During this period, KPMG India recorded extraordinary growth in revenues, profits, and people – along with organizational transformation. Arun previously served in President Obama’s Administration as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director General of the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service. As a senior United States commercial diplomat, he headed a bureau of 1700 professionals in 78 countries and all the 50 states. He was the Administration’s lead official to promote U.S. exports and inward foreign direct investment and supported enhanced market access around the world. He was a key architect of the U.S-India Strategic & Commercial Dialogue in 2015-16. Arun is the author of The Global Trade Paradigm (HarperCollins, 2023) and is a frequent speaker on topics relating to geopolitics and its implications for business. He is also the author of two books of poetry, Mantram Beach (Aleph, 2020) and Plain Truths (Current Books, 2010.)Arun has been based in Silicon Valley for most of the last forty years. He divides his time between the U.S. and India.
