ABOUT ARUNIMA ANAND
I’m a first-year M.S. student in Data Science at UC San Diego, with 2.5+ years of prior experience at Deloitte building end-to-end, production-focused data science and AI/ML systems. My work has spanned the full lifecycle, from making sense of imperfect data and designing thoughtful features to stress-testing models, deploying them on cloud infrastructure, and building the monitoring needed to keep them reliable in the real world. I’m especially drawn to explainable and statistical machine learning systems, LLM evaluation frameworks, and data problems where rigor matters just as much as practicality. My background in economics and mathematics has shaped how I approach these problems, with a strong focus on trade-offs, uncertainty, and evidence-based decision-making. Beyond the technical work, I care deeply about teaching and mentorship. I find it incredibly meaningful to help technical ideas click for others, support people in feeling more at home in technical spaces, and contribute to learning environments where curiosity feels welcome.
