ABOUT ARUNAV BARUAH

I am a Professional Structural Engineer (PE) licensed in the state of California. I obtained my MS in Structural Engineering from UC, San Diego, USA with an Emphasis in Seismic Design. Post graduation, I have had the unique opportunity to work on a multitude of projects spanning different materials and building sectors. My experiences include working on complicated high-rise stadiums and buildings involving steel connections, designing Public Halls and Fire Stations, and analyzing and designing high-rise office buildings that include two-way mild slabs and core walls. My interests in Structural Engineering include Earthquakes and the Response of Structures exposed to such seismic events, Seismic Resistant Design to ensure structural safety and building functionality, Hybrid Structures that utilize \"smart\" materials [such as fiber, polymer], and modern Machine Learning and AI technology [such as CUSUM, Multiple Linear Regression models] to improve structural monitoring and thus enhance the lifespan of structures. Predilections beyond Structural Engineering: I am an ardent reader who enjoys reading across diverse topics such as String theory, Inflation Theory, Human Psychology, and Philosophy. I believe a broad background of knowledge helps us see the \"bigger picture\" and thus have a more well-rounded approach toward solving problems in everyday life as well as in everyday work. Hobbies and Interests: Playing Table Tennis, Reading, Creative writing, Singing and Learning guitar, and Gardening.
