ABOUT ARUN KRISHNARAJ

Arun Krishnaraj MD, MPH, is a Professor of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia where he serves as Vice chair for Quality and Safety, Director of the Division of Body Imaging, Chief of the Section of Abdominal Imaging, and Director of Body Procedures. From 20••••13 he served as junior faculty at Harvard Medical School, where he worked in the division of Abdominal Imaging and Intervention at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a passionate advocate for the specialty of Radiology and serves in numerous leadership positions in organized radiology, most notably as a member of the Board of Chancellors of the American College of Radiology where he Chairs the Commission on Patient and Family Centered Care. His overarching goal in serving in this capacity is to better reconnect radiologists with their intrinsic motivations for pursuing medicine, to heal the sick and contribute positively to the health of society all while ensuring that radiologic care is delivered in a manner which respects and empowers patients and their families. Dr. Krishnaraj’s leadership efforts have been recognized by the American Medical Association Foundation, which awarded him their prestigious Excellence in Medicine Leadership award in 2012, one of only 4 early career physicians in the country to have received this honor. Moreover, Dr. Krishnaraj has been annually included in the “Best Doctors in America” list since 2015 and has been honored with the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence and the Paul Dee Teacher of the Year award at the University of Virginia. In addition to the above he has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and as a Fellow of the Society of Abdominal Radiology. Dr. Krishnaraj completed his residency at the University of North Carolina, where he served as a Chief Resident before pursuing fellowship training in abdominal imaging and imaging informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed all his formal education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Honors Program, receiving an undergraduate degree in public health with distinction, a medical degree where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and a master\'s of Public Health where he was elected to the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society.
