An Electroplating Specialist is a technical expert responsible for applying metal coatings on various products (jewelry, industrial components, electronics, automotive parts, etc.) using chemical and electrochemical processes. The goal is to improve appearance, corrosion resistance, hardness, conductivity, and durability.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and control electroplating baths (gold, silver, rhodium, nickel, copper, etc.)Prepare metal surfaces: cleaning, degreasing, stripping, polishingMonitor chemical concentrations, pH, temperature, current density, voltageMaintain bath health, replenishment, and brightener/additive balanceHandle rectifiers, agitation, filtration, and heating systemsTroubleshoot issues like burning, peeling, dullness, pitting, tarnishPerform thickness control: micron check using XRF/weight gainMaintain production records, quality reports, and daily logsFollow safety protocols (PPE, chemical handling, waste treatment)Work closely with QA/QC, R&D, and production teamsSkills & ExpertiseStrong knowledge of metal chemistry and plating parametersExpertise in Jewelry plating (Gold, Rhodium, Silver, Nickel-free, PVD assistance)Troubleshooting common plating defectsAbility to work with high-volume productionExperience with anti-tarnish, EP bath maintenance, ultrasonic cleaningUnderstanding of colour finishing—white, yellow, black, rose goldKnowledge of wastewater treatment and environmental complianceIndustries that hire Electroplating SpecialistsJewelry manufacturingElectronics (PCB, connectors)Automotive partsSilverware & handicrafts
