The Research Software Engineering Core is a resource based in the Information Technology department in close collaboration with NYU Grossman School of Medicine. The mission of the RSE Core is to assist in the creation of efficient, scalable, and sustainable research software in order to enable new scientific advances. The core provides software development and integration resources, enabling research students, faculty and staff to focus on their research.Manage a team of about 20 (including technicians, contractors, etc.) who provide IT support for researchers and supporting staff at NYU Langone Health. Created efficiencies across multiple areas of the IT department including: migration from PeopleSoft into Ivanti HEAT (ticketing software), reducing the time needed to locate end users, revamped the software page to include all current titles, and created an equipment re-use program that has saved NYULH departments to date.Collaborated on oversight of internal computer procurement system revamp for entire School of Medicine (research labs, clinical research, and administration). One of the main objectives was to decrease the SLA – the time it takes a researcher to obtain computer equipment – to deliver within four days, my team consistently delivers within two.Spearheaded the development of a new research internship program with a local college. Original program was such a success that the next iteration is expanding to include both clinical and corporate internship opportunities.Uncovered coding flaw within MacOS that hindered SMB transfer speed by 50%. Presented findings to engineering department, who accepted the change, and now new computers are built with updated code ensuring NYULH computers have the fastest possible throughput.Selected to be part of the vetting and onboarding team for CrashPlan (cloud-based desktop backup). Received certification to be one of two people in NYULH IT qualified for server administration.
