About Erik Schroeder
I strive to be the leader that live theatre deserves; connecting resources to artists, and audiences to inspiration.\"A Tony Award-winning producer and theatre manager, Erik is a values-driven and innovative leader, passionate about new plays and musicals as well as the classics. In New York he led The Acting Company for four seasons, prior to which he worked for Manhattan Theatre Club under executive producer Barry Grove and general manager Florie Seery.In Chicago, Erik served as Managing Director of The House for five seasons, and spent eight years as Director of Marketing at Lookingglass Theatre Company, recipient of the 2011 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre. He holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts with a Management Studies concentration from St. Olaf College. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, he has also worked for The Madison Repertory Theater, The Children’s Theater Company in Minneapolis, and Chicago Children’s Theater. Erik taught courses in Entertainment Marketing and The Business of Live and Performing Arts as an adjunct instructor at Columbia College Chicago. He has spoken on the topics of marketing, audience engagement and social media for The Arts & Business Council of Chicago, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, The School of the Art Institute, Loyola University, DePaul University, The University of Chicago Graham School, as well as at the annual conferences of the National Arts Marketing Project, League of American Orchestras and INTIX (International Ticketing Association). Erik was a recipient of the Leadership U Fellowship, funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and administered by Theatre Communications Group (TCG), and completed the Commercial Theatre Institute (CTI) program in New York. He was a participant in the University of Chicago Booth School Rustandy Center Executive Coaching Program. For six years he served as secretary of the board of directors for the acclaimed storefront theater company, The Hypocrites. He has sat on the TCG Annual Conference programming advisory committee, and the National Arts Marketing Project Conference planning committee.
