   I am an ESL Teacher and Coordinator at Bronx Compass High School. As the ESL Coordinator, I am in charge of all aspects of new multilingual student intake, ESL testing (NYSITELL and the NYSESLAT), and compliance. As an instructor, I have taught English as a New Language standalone classes for grades 9th-11th, Seminar grade 10th, and Internships grade 10th. I have also co-taught ELA grades 9th-12th, Living Environment grades 9th-10th, and Algebra grade 9th. I speak fluent Spanish, advanced Arabic, French and German. I am skilled at differentiation, and creating and using assessments in order to collect data to improve my students\' learning by providing them with feedback so they can take charge of their learning and understand their roles in their education, as well as to determine my students interests to inform my teaching and to improve my own instruction. I am also highly interested in flipped and blended classrooms, as well as integrating Edtech into the classroom where beneficial. My philosophy of teaching is grounded in the strong belief that my role as an instructor is to cultivate in my students independent thinking, creativity, and a critical mindset deeply engaged not only with course materials, but also with the world around them. I believe that learning is best achieved through, in a word, connections — sometimes obvious, many times not — that students can draw between different kinds of information, knowledge, cultures, languages and experiences. so that they are able to see and articulate these connections and can then begin to pull them apart and explore them from many different points of view.
