ABOUT ARTHUR BADGER

Technology generalist. Technology hobbyist since 1985 (or earlier, if you count dismantling my mom\'s alarm clock when I was 6). Technology professional since 1997.I have a passion for technology and innovation and a deep background in information and communications technologies and information security. Although I have 25-plus years of experience, I remain passionate about learning and growing.I have worked with networked computing technology in full-time day jobs since the late 1990s. In parallel, I have worked with networked computing technology in my own small businesses and in my life as a platform for learning, growth, entertainment, and entrepreneurial aspirations.(I operated a small datacenter in my home from the year until about 2020, when I “moved to the cloud”.)I can help you at the macro level. I can help with things like high-level philosophical, strategic, tactical, and conceptual thinking. I can help you map business objectives to technical objectives. I can help you think with clarity and depth about how your technology should work, and then I can help you make it work that way.I can also help you at the micro level. I can create, analyze, evaluate, assess, and troubleshoot scripts, code, content, and application and system configuration, to make new things work, fix things that are broken, glue technologies together, address regulatory and business requirements, maximize functionality, availability, efficiency, and user experience, minimize operational and security risks, and come up with innovative solutions to technical problems.I have been writing code since 1998. I have solved problems and created tools with code in Perl, Visual Basic, Javascript, Ruby, Java, Powershell, Windows shell scripting, Bash shell scripting, and a little Python. I\'m experienced and familiar with declarative languages used for content and data exchange, like HTML, XML, JSON, and YAML.I\'m also experienced with development IDEs like Eclipse, Visual Studio and VS Code, and the JetBrains suite, and DevOps/CI/CD/IaC tooling like Github, Puppet, Azure DevOps, AWS Code* and Cloudformation, and Terraform, web development and design using HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and function, container, and orchestration technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, AWS ECS, and AWS Lambda.Like many in my field I am currently working on building my AI skillset, and am gaining experience with IDE integrations like Github Copilot and Claude Code, and AI concepts and technologies like Model Context Protocol, Language Server Protocol, and Agentic AI architecture.
