ABOUT ARREHAN KONDKARI
I work in shipyard construction, supporting fabrication and erection of large vessels and making sure engineering drawings can actually be built in the yard.At Seaspan Vancouver Shipyard (Canada), I support the Canadian Coast Guard Polar Icebreaker and Oceanographic Science Vessel programs. My role sits between engineering and production, reviewing drawings before release, resolving issues found during fabrication or erection, coordinating vendors and subcontract block fabrication, and working with DNV and Lloyd’s surveyors during inspections.A big part of my work is checking access, lifting feasibility, installation sequence, equipment foundations and trade clearances so work can proceed without rework. I work closely with supervisors, QA/QC and planners to close RFIs, incorporate revisions into as-built conditions, and keep erection and outfitting moving.Before moving to Canada, I worked on dry-dock repair and retrofit projects in India, coordinating structural, mechanical and electrical trades within docking schedules and class inspection windows.
