ABOUT ARPAN CHAKRABORTY
I am interested in the field of system modeling, system requirement generation, requirement testing, and human factors in system design. The applications in Aviation and Automotive industry interests me the most. I received my Master\'s in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University. In graduate school, I wrote my thesis on \"Detecting Hazardous State in General Aviation (GA) Using a Low-Cost Attitude and Heading Reference System\". As a graduate research assistant, I had worked on two FAA projects regarding the future of GA and safety in GA. Before Graduate School, I worked at Honeywell Flight Management System (FMS) for 3 years. In the role of an Aircraft Performance Engineer, I developed FMS software requirements, test cases, and code. After graduating from Purdue, I worked as an Avionics and Electrical System Engineer at Cirrus Aircraft on a new avionics design. In this role, I performed hardware and software modifications on an avionics (Garmin) bench and airplane, performed various installation tests, wrote detailed work orders, and developed functional avionics requirements, ground test procedures, and flight test plans for a Part 23 airplane.Currently, I work as a system engineer for Joby Aviation. I enjoy flying and currently hold a private pilot license with approximately 120 hours. I have flown various single-engine airplanes such as the Piper Warrior, Piper Archer, Cirrus SR20, Cirrus SR22, and a Piper SportCruiser.
