About Aromica Bhattacharya
I am a systems thinker by design, specialist by immersion. My professional journey began in communication and languages, grew through diplomacy and international relations, and has consistently focused on how policy shapes people, communities and identity. Today, my work remains devoted to impact, but viewed through the lens of how people impact the planet. I bring together my love for travel, my grounding in languages and culture, and my experience in international affairs to focus on sustainability in global tourism. Each of us travels and has a footprint. So what role can – and should – policy, standards and multilateral governance play in addressing the negative impacts of that footprint on the climate, environment and communities? This is where I see myself making a difference - I am drawn to mandates where I can shape strategy, steward cross‑sector partnerships and ensure that complex technical insight becomes clear, usable choices for policymakers and executive teams. I am gradually orienting my career toward senior leadership roles in multilateral organisations, where sustainable tourism, climate policy and evidence‑based frameworks are central to advancing the SDGs. In short, I am a traveler at heart with a book in hand and a pen in the other! Role that sits within the intersection of sustainability policy, data regulation, impact assessment and global reporting frameworks. In practice, turning a complex landscape of standards and data sources into a coherent data strategy that enables consistent, credible and compliant sustainability data to be scaled globally to all stakeholders. In my time at Travalyst, I have worked in the Accommodation team, Product Team, and now in the Policy and Industry Relations team with a cross-sectoral focus.
