Arnie Lacayo represents foreign, domestic and multi-national corporations; sovereign governments and their instrumentalities; Receivers, Trustees and others in sensitive international investigations and complex cross-border disputes. Lacayo also has extensive experience involving fraud investigations; asset preservation and recovery; corruption cases; prejudgment remedies; jurisdictional, venue, evidentiary and post-judgment enforcement issues; matters involving overlapping civil and criminal issues; the versatile 28 U.S.C. § 1782 discovery statute in aid of foreign proceedings; and Chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in cross-border insolvency cases. Recent published cases in which Lacayo has participated include: In re Consorcio Ecuatoriano de Telecomunicaciones, 685 F.3d 987 (11th Cir. 2012)(affirming use of § 1782 statute in support of pending and contemplated foreign actions); Sallah v. Worldwide Clearing, LLC, et al, 2011 WL 59•••34 (S.D. Fla. Nov. 28, 2011)(order denying various motions to dismiss fraudulent transfers and unjust enrichment claims by Receiver); In re Application of Dr. Afonso Henrique Alves Braga, 272 F.R.D. 621 (S.D. Fla. 2011)(order denying motion to vacate order granting petition for § 1782 relief in support of Brazilian action); Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota v. Mercury Telco Group, Inc, 670 F. Supp. 2d 1357 (S.D. Fla. 2009)(order confirming and enforcing a multi-million dollar arbitration award in favor of a Colombian telecommunications company).Arnie Lacayo is professionally bilingual in English and Spanish and is admitted to all Florida state courts, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
