About Arne Warlop
I graduated with a Master of Science in Industrial Design Engineering from Ghent University (Belgium) in 2021. During my final year, I completed my thesis at the Daikin European Design Center, where I led the redesign and development of a pressurized enclosure for Daikin’s heat exchangers. This project allowed me to participate in the full design cycle, from concept generation to mechanical and thermal (CAE) simulations, prototyping, and validation.A key focus of my work was optimizing the design for manufacturability (DFM), ensuring the product was both cost-effective and efficient to produce. My work exceeded expectations, demonstrating my ability to deliver impactful results. Through the thesis project, I gained hands-on experience and knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, sheet metal bending, CNC machining, and assembly, further strengthening my DFM expertise. After completing my thesis, I joined Mitsubishi Chemical Group as a Project Development Engineer within the Advanced Materials Division. I contributed to several projects, including the redesign and optimization of injection-molded products. My responsibilities included developing 3D models, creating 2D/3D drawings, and conducting DFMEA and tolerance analysis to ensure product reliability and performance. I also utilized simulations to refine designs, ensuring they met technical and manufacturing standards. Early in the design process, I worked closely with customers and internal teams to understand the voice of the customer, optimize parts, and improve cost-efficiency.During my time at Mitsubishi Chemical, I collaborated with industries such as Medical (Xeos, L’Oréal), Automotive (Valeo, Autoliv, ZF TRW), Food (Heineken, Dispack Projects) and Bike (Specialized, Trek, Ridley). This exposed me to diverse design challenges across different sectors. With over eight years of experience in 3D CAD software, including Siemens NX, Moldex 3D, and SolidWorks, I have developed proficiency in 3D solid modeling (including sheet metal) and 2D drawing creation. I have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and how to integrate them into the design phase. Additionally, I am skilled in using MS Office applications, which helps me collaborate and communicate effectively across teams. With a Master’s in Industrial Product Design, over five years of experience as a product engineer, and a solid background in project development within an injection molding company, I am confident in my ability to contribute effectively to your team.
