ABOUT ARND HALLER

Arnd Haller, Senior Legal Director at Google in Hamburg, oversees regional legal teams covering BeNeLux, CEE, D/A/CH, IE/UK, and the Nordics. Leading a team of 30-40 lawyers in Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Germany, Ireland, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, he acts as the primary legal advisor on country-specific legal issues for local leadership, advising on product launches, commercial matters, corporate governance, pre-litigation, litigation, regulatory and compliance matters. He also manages outside counsel and is part of the German cross-functional Management Team.Since joining Google in 2005, Arnd has focused on the intersection of technology, law, and policy. During his tenure, Google (now Alphabet) has expanded significantly, from US$6 billion in revenue, approximately employees and a few products to over US$300 billion, employees and many products serving billions of users in 2023, along with increasing legal and regulatory challenges, especially in Europe.Arnd has overseen numerous litigation and regulatory proceedings, many decided by the Court of Justice of the European Union or national high courts, setting precedents for the tech industry. He has focused on advising on evolving European tech regulations like GDPR, EUCD, DSA, DMA, Data Act, and AIA, including their implementation and compliance.He is involved with nonprofits such as FSM, DIHK, and HK Hamburg, and is a board member at MPI, DGRI, and @kit. He is also a founding board member of fragFINN, a platform for young children promoting media literacy.
