ABOUT ARMAN AHMED KHAN

I’m a robotics engineer and HRI researcher (he/him) building multimodal interfaces—speech, gesture, touch, and gaze—for mobile robots in real-world environments. At CELISCA (University of Rostock), I’m developing an HRI stack for ASTI ProBot L robots used in laboratory automation as part of the ADAM—Autonomous Development of Advanced Materials project. My focus spans ROS 2 (Nav2), behavior/state machines, perception pipelines, HRI, HMl and safety.Previously at OVGU Magdeburg, I delivered navigation and control for an organic-farming mobile robot (with aimess GmbH): tuning local planners, improving kinematics, and preparing visual SLAM integration. At TH Ingolstadt, I built hardware triggering/time-sync for LiDAR–camera–GPS and created an in-field PSF-based deblurring and camera-aging estimation method. My master’s thesis (OVGU) produced a dynamic hand-gesture recognition system for a ROS robot (Tiago), paired with face-ID gating for secure command, achieving ~94.7% accuracy and integrating end-to-end in Gazebo/RViz with PID motion control.I love turning algorithms into dependable systems: Nav2 tuning, MPC/NMPC-style control thinking, CV pipelines, SLAM/localization, and robust software/hardware integration on embedded and x86 platforms.Open to: Robotics/Autonomy/HRI/Perception roles (ROS 2/C++/Python) and collaborations in lab automation, logistics, and mobile manipulation. Keywords: ROS 2, Nav2, C++/Python, CV, SLAM, state estimation, MPC/NMPC, sensor fusion, LLMs for HRI, safety & UX.
