Arlindo Gomes has spent more than 25 years in executive leadership roles through his work with venue management, major events, economic development, and community advocacy. Serving as the Vice President of Business Development and Venue Management at Explore Edmonton Corporation, Arlindo oversees the operations of the Edmonton Convention Centre, Edmonton EXPO Centre, Startup Edmonton, Biotechnology Business Development Centre as well as business, major sports and cultural events attraction to Edmonton. As an executive on the Senior Leadership Team, Arlindo leads high-performance teams to achieve excellence through venue management and major events to deliver economic and social impact within Edmonton. A thought-leader with more than two decades of experience in the live sports and entertainment industry, Arlindo’s professional background prepared him to successfully lead cross-functional teams through the organizational response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has previously held positions with Edmonton Northlands, Fantasyland Hotel, Alberta Health Services and worked on major events such as the 2012 IIHF World Junior’s, Edmonton Indy, Edmonton’s Klondike Days, Arctic Winter Games, The Heritage Classic, Canadian Finals Rodeo and Farmfair International. Arlindo has led major projects such as the acquisition of the Edmonton Expo Centre into Explore Edmonton, the transition of Edmonton Research Park and Alberta Technology Centre to the City of Edmonton and th transition of Startup Edmonton into Innovate Edmonton.Arlindo currently sits as a board member of the Tourism Industry Association of Alberta where he represents meetings, conventions and incentive travel and works to elevate Alberta’s tourism economy and support its sustained growth. He also sits on the board of directors for the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts. His previous board work includes Alberta Restaurant and Foodservices Association and the National Association of Concessionaires. A community advocate, coach and sports enthusiast. With a passion for supporting the success of others, Arlindo is driven by the desire to make a difference. Arlindo firmly believes that community growth is achieved through collaboration, partnership and investment in the development of others.
