About Arlena Amaro
I am happy to inform you from Monday to Friday at 12, 5 and 5:30 p.m. through Telemundo 51. Before Miami I had the privilege of being Telemundo San Antonio news anchor for the past 7 years and a half and before that, I was a news reporter at Univision 23 in Miami, where I covered the 2012 Republican Primaries, the Venezuelan presidential elections, political scandals in South Florida, hurricanes in Key West, crime, breaking news and human interest stories. In 2013 I had an exclusive sit down interview with Panama\'s president at the time, Ricardo Martinelli, who was later accused of corruption. During my 5 years at Univision 23, I traveled to Venezuela in 2010 and worked on a special series that included interviewing former presidential candidate, Henrique Capriles Radonski, as well as lawyers, activists, a kidnapping victim and the chief of police of the second most dangerous city in the world, Caracas. That three part series mirrored Venezuela when Hugo Chavez was in power and homicides, kidnappings and robberies were as rampant as ever. In 2015, I won an Emmy for the heartwarming story \"Reencuentro magico\" about a girl, who disappeared when she was 2 years old and 60 years later she met the family in person and we were there to record it.
