About Arjun Karuvally
As a Research Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, I am pursuing a PhD in Computer Science focusing on memory modeling in artificial and biological neural networks. With over five years of experience in this field, I have developed a solid theoretical and practical foundation in recurrent neural networks, machine learning, and computational neuroscience. My current research contributions include the General Sequential Episodic Memory Model, an energy-based model for encoding memories with temporal properties, and the extension of memory models to handle variable information. I am also delving into an episodic memory theory of RNN dynamics that aims to bridge the gap between memory models and the contemporary neural networks. I aim to create more intelligent, interpretable, and human-understandable AI systems by leveraging concepts from cognitive science, computer science, physics, neuroscience and mathematics. I am always eager to connect and collaborate with fellow researchers and practitioners who share my passion for exploring the fascinating crossroads of AI, memory modeling, and cognitive science.
