Hi, I’m Arjun. A Data Scientist in the making. It might have taken me 30 years to find my calling, but here I am.I studied automobile engineering for my undergrads and pursued an MBA in Marketing from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Like most youth, I stepped into the professional world post my MBA by joining ICICI Bank in Chennai as Assistant Manager - Business Accounts.My role in ICICI required me to analyse the SMEs’ (Small Medium Enterprises) market and gauge the feasibility of sanctioning loans to businesses after thorough investigation of their financial accounts. Little did I know, my journey with data would begin here as I scanned and analysed pages and pages of financial data to take a call on sanctioning a single loan.After working with an established brand like ICICI, I decided to challenge myself by joining a startup. My journey with ParentCircle, a RAMCO group associate company, started as a Market Research Analyst. As part of this role, I performed competitor analysis, learnt tools such as Google Analytics and SimilarWeb to perform web analytics of competitor sites, and analysed the market to suggest the way forward for the company. As it was a startup, my roles kept changing to adapt to the needs of the company. From analysing the market, I dabbled with digital marketing, helping the company tap into the potential of social media and charting the way forward by analysing data generated by the various social media.Meanwhile, as the company’s focus shifted to its parenting website, I was tasked with analysing the site performance mainly through metrics from Google Analytics. My inferences were presented to the management using PowerBI and Google Data Studio, helping them in directing their focus. This furthered my interest in data analytics and data science and I took initiatives to explore and learn more about the field.In this quest, I enrolled for the Great Lakes Institute of Management Post Graduate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. As part of the course I learnt to work on Python, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit Learn and Tensor Flow. And along with four batch mates, I submitted a final project based on deep learning.I continue to work with ParentCircle, driving their digital sales strategy and e-commerce sales based on data collected from the backend of Google Analytics and Shopify Analytics.Data Science is my passion and I would love to connect with those who share my passion.
