ABOUT ARJUN PUNIA
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Criminology student at York University with a strong academic record and a passion for promoting diversity and inclusion. I chose to study Criminology at York University because I’ve always wanted to understand why people do what they do and how systems shape their choices and opportunities. Growing up, I saw how people’s lives are often impacted by circumstances they can’t control, and I wanted to learn how to contribute to a world where justice and care can coexist. What brought me to this path was a mix of curiosity and the desire to support others. Through roles as a Residence Don, Student Engagement Assistant, and volunteer at SickKids, I’ve seen how much of a difference it makes when someone feels seen and supported, whether it’s helping a student navigate a tough day or bringing a moment of comfort to a child in the emergency department. Currently, I am completing my BA (Honours) in Criminology, participating in the DARE program as a Independent student researcher, and working as a Research Recruitment Coordinator. These experiences have deepened my commitment to youth, justice, and community engagement.while gaining hands-on experience in student leadership, community engagement, and research. I am passionate about justice, youth, and community care, and I believe in the small everyday actions that build trust and create safer spaces for people to thrive. In the future, I see myself working at the intersection of law, social work, and policy, whether as a lawyer, social worker, or policy maker. My goal is to contribute to systems that are more equitable and compassionate, advocating for those who are often left out of conversations and decisions that impact them the most.
