ABOUT ARJUN BHASKARAN
I am a Scientific researcher in Neuroscience with a demonstrated history of excellence in research and Teaching. For the past 8 years, I have been studying the mechanism that contributes to hyperexcitability in a mouse model of Fragile X syndrome (FXS) and other autism spectrum mouse models such as Shank3 and PTEN. Over the years I had the opportunity to work under great scientists in the field and have learnt cutting edge techniques such as whole cell patch clamp (in vivo and in vitro), widefield and flavoprotein imaging (anesthetized mice), stereotaxic delivery of retrograde/anterograde RABV for viral tracing (RABV,AAV), neuronal reconstruction using Neurolucida, and recording of neuronal activities during a texture discrimination task using Optogenetics and wide-field imaging, and data analysis. Currently I have moved from Academia to Industry to learn exciting research setups that are different from university laboratory settings. I work as Scientific associate in the in vivo operations of the company where I actively contribute to the preclinical trials of a bioprinted tissue implant that would potentially aid millions of diabetic patients in the nearby future.
