ABOUT ARIKA VIRAPONGSE
Community Engagement | Program Evaluation | Organizational Development | Social Science ResearchI help organizations thrive and grow through community engagement. I use an approach called Community Activation, which aims to develop authentic and meaningful communities. As part of this work, I help communities develop online collaborative infrastructure, volunteer-led operations, membership models, and community-based governance/leadership. The communities I work with come in all shapes and sizes: new and existing communities, cohorts, communities of practice, place-based, and distributed (online). In particular, I work with community-based organizations that are undergoing transitions, including towards more sustainable business models and community-engaged approaches.See my book:\"From Me to We: A Guide for Community Stewards\"(2026) Community engagement & Membership support: I provide support for organizations as a fractional Community Director or consultant. I\'m often called upon to help develop and implement strategies for community engagement and membership, mentor in-house community managers, and implement evaluation & assessment. Organizational development support: I help organizations develop their organizational infrastructure, transition to community-based governance, explore and implement new business models, build cross-sectoral partnerships, and conduct market research and program evaluations to inform organizational strategy. I align this support to the organization\'s target audiences and membership/community. See more about me here: also an inspired scientist, researcher, and author.
