As a federal officer, senior advisor and Interagency Task Force Lead at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), I have over 20 years of experience enhancing public safety with local, state, federal, and tribal agencies to better implement the four stages of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.I am a subject management expert in emergency management, crisis management and strategic communications. I have a proven track record of providing sound advice and guidance to senior leadership at DHS on critical policy decisions and issues.Some of my notable achievements include working on the development and implementation of the Post Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act (PKEMRA) and the National Response Framework (NRF). I have extensive experience as the DHS/FEMA spokesperson on both national and regional levels. I am passionate about strengthening the resilience and preparedness of our nation, and its communities with a track record of fostering and maintaining close working relationships with diverse stakeholders and partners. I am currently a member of the Illinois State Crime Commission; senior advisor to government leadership and consultant to states, municipalities and the private sector with a focus on emergency management, law enforcement, and communications projects.
