Systems Engineer for the Lunar Surface Innovation Initiative (LSII) at NASA HQ Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD). STMD develops and demonstrates high-payoff technologies with the intent to infuse into current and future NASA missions. This organization employs a merit-based competition model with a portfolio approach spanning a range of discipline areas and technology readiness levels to advance technologies for the benefit of NASA, the aerospace industry, other Government agencies, as well as to address national needsLUNAR SURFACE INNOVATION INITIATIVE (LSII): LSII spurs the creation of state-of-the-art, novel technologies needed for lunar surface exploration and accelerates the technology readiness of key systems and components. LSII activities are a combination of in-house activities, competitive programs, and public-private partnerships. LSII has formulated an informed, ambitious, and executable plan for 6 primary lunar infrastructure technology development areas with activities spanning the TRL pipeline. Technology development, demonstrations and maturation for technologies required for successful lunar surface exploration such as In-situ Resource Utilization - Collection, processing, storing and use of material found or manufactured on other astronomical objects; Surface Power - Enabling continuous power throughout lunar day and night; Extreme Access - Technologies needed to access, navigate and explore surface/subsurface area and; Extreme Environments - Enabling systems to operate throughout the full range of extreme lunar surface conditions.
