About Arianna Addis

Hello, my name is Arianna! I earned my B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Washington in 2020, and after hiking on the PCT, earned my M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2024. I study the intersections between teamwork, technology, humanitarian work, and well-being, and am passionate about conducting my work through a Humanitarian Work Psychology lens. In May of 2024, I joined Brooks Running as a Run Perception graduate research intern, and have since transitioned to working at the front desk. While at Brooks, I\'ve researched how we could measure marathoners\' grit based on watch data from over workouts, and assisted with internal and external product testing.Through my graduate research at the Institute for Culture, Collaboration, and Management (ICCM), I investigated trust violation and repair in human-robot teams for the Air Force, explored novel measurement methods of team cohesion through work with the Army Research Institute, and collected survey data for a longitudinal teams study on engineering students. I also worked with a transcontinental team to study the role of emotional intelligence and resilience on the mental health of students in Vietnam, Pakistan, and the U.S, and interned with the Girl Scout Research Institute. Additionally, I led the mentoring program for first-year students, and facilitated monthly meetings for ICCM’s Teams Research Portfolio. My qualitative M.S. thesis explored how digital humanitarian aid work influenced the psychological well-being of volunteers, and common challenges they faced. As an undergrad at the University of Washington, I assisted with belay tests at the UW Climbing Gym and with social anxiety exposure exercises at the Evidence-Based Treatment Center of Seattle. I performed with the Husky Marching Band for over fans on gameday, planned trips for a women\'s outdoor club, participated in HR and UX mentorship programs at Amazon, and increased enrollment for UW’s Early Fall Start program while interning with UW’s Center for 21st Century Liberal Learning. I also coded qualitative data for a 20-year longitudinal study on leadership in West Point cadets, researched compassion, creativity, and burnout with UW business school students, and contributed to a guidebook promoting resilience and well-being within the UW community. Outside of work you can find me running, guiding backpacking trips at Two Sentinels Girl Scout Camp, rock climbing, slack-lining, or playing saxophone with UW’s Husky Alumni Marching Band.    Worked with 2 other team members to create a seamless front desk experience by promptly checking in visitors, validating parking, answering questions, assisting with ad-hoc requests, etc- Participated as a mentee in Brooks’ 6-month mentorship program under the guidance of Brooks’ Sr. People Programs Manager- Mentored an undergraduate intern on the Run Research team during his 3-month internship- Participated in 2025 Innovation Days, a week-long \"hackathon\", and proposed a project that would reduce burnout for sub-elite runners- Analyzed, synthesized, and presented a project to identify wins and opportunities for Brooks\' formal employee mentoring program- Assisted with ongoing research opportunities with the Run Sights and Run Research team- Volunteered at Brooks’ community impact events around Seattle area
