About Ariana Finlayson
It was in 2010 when I first felt the seismic shift happening in my beloved editorial field. Bloggers had carved a niche, and vloggers were coming onto the scene. Some editors stood their ground while others joined Twitter and dabbled in YouTube. Two years later, I pivoted into my first social media role, which felt different for a variety of reasons—but also the same. Instead of pitching ideas for front-of-book features, I was creating franchises, based on community insights and business goals. Rather than doctors and spokespeople as our credible voices, I was connecting with influencers and brand ambassadors. The Well became the feed. The FOB is now \"What are we posting on Stories?\" The “Reader’s Corner” is UGC and community management: our 365 days a year, 24/7 focus group.I embrace an editorial mindset in all my marketing work, because great content doesn’t look to sell—it looks to help, enrich, and connect.
