ABOUT ARIANA WALJI
Ariana (she/her) is a Graduate Research Trainee at University Health Network and MSc candidate at the University of Toronto, pursuing her thesis in the area of Surgical Artificial Intelligence. Her project focuses on the clinical integration of surgical artificial intelligence decision-support tools into the operating room. She graduated Honours with Distinction from Western University and completed a Cardiovascular Disease Research minor at Vrije University Faculty of Medicine in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Ariana is passionate about advancing the field of medicine through tailored design and optimized translation of AI and computer vision technologies. Past projects involve machine learning models for in-hospital cardiac arrest risk prediction, and leveraging artificial intelligence to improve radiation treatment outcomes in oropharyngeal and breast cancer patients. Ariana is dedicated to refining current algorithms through meticulous bias and risk assessments, while also innovating by crafting her own algorithms to optimize patient outcomes.
